Galapagos Islands

Shark Expert & Underwater Photography Guide

The Galapagos archipelago hosts the highest biomass of sharks in the world, and it’s the best diving I’ve ever done. Come for the hammerheads (and the giant whale sharks!), stay for the marine iguanas and penguins! I’ll be hosting a liveaboard shark diving trip for my friends at Galapagos Shark Diving (18–25 July 2023) in support of the Galapagos Whale Shark Project.

Tubbataha Reefs, Philippines

Shark Expert & Underwater Photography Guide

Whale sharks over coral reefs? Yes please! Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, protects 97,000 hectares of vibrant coral atolls and abundant megafauna including whale sharks, manta rays, sea turtles, and dolphins. It is home to some of the highest-documented densities of reef sharks in the world. I joined in shark research expeditions to Tubbataha from 2015–17, so it’ll be fantastic to get back over there. I’ll be co-hosting this Marine Megafauna Foundation trip with Dr. Andrea Marshall, my co-founder at MMF.

Deep South, Maldives

Marine Megafauna Foundation Expedition

The “Deep South” atolls of Addu and Fuvahmulah within the Maldives Archipelago are amongst the hottest ‘new’ (to me at least) dive destinations on the planet for megafauna sightings. Here, we’ve got a good shot at seeing giant oceanic manta rays, tiger sharks, adult whale sharks, and a bunch of other shark and ray species. This will be my first trip to these atolls (and only my second to the archipelago), so I’m super excited about it! I’m co-hosting this Marine Megafauna Foundation trip with Dr. Andrea Marshall, my co-founder at MMF.
